Argeo Paul Cellucci, 65, dies

Marlborough, MA — The pride of Hudson, Mass., former Gov. Argeo Paul Cellucci, 65, died June 8, 2013, at his home.

He succumbed to complications from ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

He had a fondness for harness racing and among his many contributions, he was a member of the New England chapter of the United States Harness Writers Association.

Gov. Deval Patrick said of the former governor, “Massachusetts lost a favored son and devoted public servant. A lawyer, legislator, govenor and diplomat.”

Most noteworthy, he never lost an election.

He served as Ambassador to Canada after leaving the state house and devoted 35 years to public service. He also helped launch the UMass ALS Champion Fund to support ALS research.

He is survived by his wife, Jan; and their two daughters, Kate and Anne.

Church services will be held this Friday (June 14) at St. Michael’s Church in Hudson.
