Arrangements announced for James “Bucky” Buchanan

Columbus, OH — James “Bucky” Buchanan Jr., 61, a trainer/driver on the Kentucky circuit, died March 5, 2010.

Mr. Buchanan was born in Boyle Co., Ky., a son of the late James and Iola (Stafford).

He was active in the sport for more than 20 years. As a driver, he piloted 83 horses to $160,178 in earnings, while his trainees won 33 times and cashed $61,562 in checks. His last starts were on September 6, 2009 at The Red Mile.

Mr. Buchanan was also a 33rd degree Mason with the Valley of Cincinnati Chapter.

He is survived by his children, Missy (Jason) Payne, Jessica (Jack) Russell Jr., and Andi (J.T.) Duncan; grandchildren, Erika, Jared, Aaron, Joey, Preston, Dillon, Mackenzie, Tyler and Cole; brother, Ronnie (Linda); and two nieces, Alissa and Laura.

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 11, from 5-8 p.m. at Neidhard Gillen Funeral Home, 7401 Hamilton Ave., Mt. Healthy, Ohio. Services will be Friday, March 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.
