Arrangements announced for John Como

Columbus, OH — John Como, 88, a longtime Standardbred owner from Towaco, N.J., died Dec. 5, 2012.

Mr. Como’s All Star Racing Inc. owns Bolt The Duer, one of this season’s top 3-year-old pacing colts. The son of Ponder-Wonderbolt has won 14 races in his career, including this year’s $500,000 Delvin Miller Adios and $415,820 Messenger. The Peter Foley trainee has bankrolled $1,051,668 lifetime. He is entered in this Saturday’s Cleveland Classic at Northfield Park.

Mr. Como was also the owner of Scenic View Acres in Towaco, N.J. Foley trained his younger horses while Mark Ford conditioned the older stock.

Born in Montville Township, N.J., Mr. Como resided in Towaco all his life. He served in the Army during World War II, and was president of AMCO Folding Carton, a family-owned business. A few years ago, he sold the business to his son, John, to concentrate on owning horses.

Visitation will be held Sunday (Dec. 9) from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. at Keri Memorial Funeral Home, 125 Main St., Lincoln Park, N.J. Services will be help Monday (Dec. 10) at 10:30 a.m., followed by entombment at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover.
