Trainer Richard Chansky and his associate, Kevin Goodell, failed to appear for a scheduled arraignment and bail hearing in Ocean County (NJ) Superior Court on February 15. A national bench warrant, covering all 50 states, has been issued for their arrest by Judge Vincent Grasso. Judge Grasso further ordered that upon arrest, cash bail of $50,000 be set for Chansky and $25,000 for Goodell.
Chansky and Goodell were indicted by a Grand Jury in Superior Court of New Jersey on December 20, 2004. Chansky’s charges included one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, detailed as anabolic steroids, and multiple counts of failure to file tax returns.
Goodell, an associate of Chansky’s, was indicted on charges of receiving stolen property, specified as $80,000 worth of Epogen and Neupogen. Both men were arrested in April of 2001 by New Jersey State Police and subsequently lost their New Jersey Racing Commission licenses. Anyone with knowledge of the whereabouts of either man can call their local, state, federal (FBI) law enforcement authorities or the NJ State Police Racetrack Unit at 732-462-3788.
