Arts And Flowers pulls off upset at Harrington

Harrington, DE – Linda Schwaid and Era Williams’ Arts and Flowers ($32.60, Roger Plante Jr.) was a 1:52.4 winner in the $18,500 Mares Open Tuesday (June 4) at Harrington Raceway.

Arts And Flowers released Sayulita to the lead approaching the quarter mile in 27.4 seconds. Sayulita then marched to the half-mile in 57 seconds, while Goin Again mounted a first over bid, with Empress Deo second over to three-quarters in 1:25.1. Sayulita maintained the lead until deep stretch, when Arts and Flowers surged down the inside to hit the wire first in 1:52.4.

Trained by Phyllis Copeland, it was the 4th win of the season for the 6 year old Artistic Fella mare.

Driver Victor Kirby had four wins on the program.
