Artsplace Series Final Monday at Pompano Park

Pompano Beach, Florida – February 15, 2004 – The $23,500 final of the 11th annual Artsplace Pacing Series final takes place Monday at Pompano Park. The 8th race features rivals ICU Jessie and Electric’s A Flyin, both of whom has won two of the three preliminary rounds.

ICU Jessie is the 8/5 favorite from post five for driver Kevin Wallis. After winning the first two rounds of the series, ICU Jessie suffered his first loss to Electric’s A Flyin in last weeks final preliminary round, a neck loss in 1:52.4. The four-year-old gelding by Camluck is trained by Gordon Norris and was bred and is owned by Diane Norris and Clifford Grundy of Howell, Michigan.

Electric’s A Flyin has now won three of his last four starts with his only loss coming to ICU Jessie in the second leg of the series. The four-year-old gelding by Electric Yankee is trained by Brian Hauck and owned by Ed Hauck, Jr. of Pompano Beach. He starts from post four and is the 2-1 second choice for driver Richard Macomber, Jr.

Other contenders include Hearty Fellow (post 1), Warm Room (post 2) and It’s The Paper Boy (post 7).

It is the second richest final in the stakes history. The series is named after the former world champion pacer and stallion, Artsplace, who still holds the world and track record for two-year-olds at Pompano Park of 1:51.1 set in 1990. Artsplace ended his career in 1992 with 37 wins and earnings of more than $3 million.
