Attraversiamo wins dramatic Swedish Trotting Derby

The two favorites, Campo Bahia and Inti Boko, in the Swedish Trotting Derby, raced Sunday afternoon (Sept. 1) at Jägersro, went off stride around the first corner and left the scene to Attraversiamo with Erik Adielsson in the bike.

Attraversiamo was in command the whole trip and was able to hold off Ferrari Sisu to win in 1:56.4f. Kanal 75 photo.

Attraversiamo was in command the whole trip (2640 meters or 1-5/8 miles) and was able to hold off Ferrari Sisu, driven by Marc Elias, to win in 1:56.4f (mile rate).

The purse for the winner was $410,000.

Attraversiamo, who is trained and part-owned by the renowned trainer Svante Båth, is sired by French stallion Kiss Francais and out of Rythm Kronos, she by Viking Kronos.

The division for mares, Derbystoet, was won by another trotter sired by a French stallion, Racing Brodda, who is by Prodigious and out of Ronda Brick, she by Super Arnie. Racing Brodda, who has been runner-up in several of the big races for mares, finally got her big win for driver Rickard N. Skoglund and trainer Mattias Djuse.

The purse for the winner was $205,000.

The Finnish Trotting Derby, raced at Vermo, Helsinki and over 2600 meters, was won by the favorite, Graceful Swamp, driven by Ari Moilanen in 1:57.4f (mile rate). The purse for the winner was $165,000.

Graceful Swamp was also sired by a French stallion, So Perfect (he by Coktail Jet) and out of Zora Kemp, she by Majestic Son.
