Billings Harness Driving Series, was on the move again Friday night (May 24) traveling to Columbus, Ohio for a trotting contest over the five-eighths mile oval at Scioto Downs. And when the judges posted the official sign after the race was contested Unbanji, driven by longtime Billings member Bob “the Lumberman” Troyer emerged victorious .
  • SBOANJ announces Breeders’ Awards for May New Jersey Sire Stakes

    Manalapan, NJ - The Standardbred Breeders & Owners Association of New Jersey today (May 24) announced that breeders of record of those horses racing in the May New Jersey Sire Stakes will be receiving Breeders’ Awards shortly after the series is completed. The awards, part of the state appropriation allocation, are based on 15% of the purse amount earned by each horse in divisions and finals.

    Nevada Standardbred Association, Inc. Announcement Formation of Advisory Committee Las Vegas, NV - May 14, 2019 - The Nevada Standardbred Association Inc., ("NVSA") has recently appointed an Advisory Committee to provide feedback to the Board of Directors on industry interests, regulatory matters, funding of stakes/breeding programs and training centers, and overall integrity considerations. The Advisory Committee consists of Bobbie Jo Martin (Chair, former Trainer); Marty Allen, DVM; Gary Seibel (Hall of Fame Announcer); Scott R. Rothbort (Owner, Investments); Tony Zuzolo (horse acquisitions, former Driver); Ted Bookstaver (Owner, former Driver); Diane Bertrand (Standardbred Canada); John Burns (overall Horsman); Mark P'Poole (Trainer, former Driver); Andy Bryner (former Indiana Standardbred Association VP) ; and Rita Polese (Trainer, Owner). The NVSA Advisory Committee consists of founding members, former leaders, and/or those appointed by the Board of Directors. Meetings will begin within the next 30 days and will be via a web-hosting conferencing service. We expect the sessions to be not only informative, but set the ground work for growth, start-up success and actionable items. The NVSA, a Nevada not-for-profit corporation that promotes and supports Harness Racing, as well as, standardbred breeding and development programs in Nevada. The NVSA assists Racetrack start-ups and represents members in negotiations. The NVSA recommends rule changes and regulations and cooperates with other Standardbred Associations such as the California Harness Horsemen’s Association. The NVSA also consults with higher education to increase equine care and training within Nevada.
