Back to the Track celebration returns to Saratoga

from Saratoga Casino and Raceway

Saratoga Springs, NY — Saratoga Casino and Raceway, the U.S. Trotting Association, and the Saratoga Harness Horseperson’s Association have joined forces once again in 2013 to unveil Back to the Track night, to be held Saturday (July 6) at Saratoga Casino and Raceway, with first post time scheduled for 6:45 p.m.

Back to the Track is designed to be a nationwide event that will not only celebrate the rich history of racing and encourage occasional or former race fans to come back the track for a night of fun, but also to encourage horsemen and regular fans to bring new people to Saratoga Casino and Raceway for a great night of harness racing.

“Saratoga Casino and Raceway is pleased to collaborate with the Saratoga Harness Horseperson’s Association and the U.S. Trotting Association for 2013 Back to the Track night,” said John Matarazzo, director of racing operations at Saratoga Casino and Raceway. “Back to the Track is an annual celebration of all the excitement and enthusiasm associated with harness racing. We encourage racing fans young and old to take a journey back to the track in what is sure to be an extraordinary event.”

The Saratoga Harness Horseperson’s Association will partner with Saratoga Casino and Raceway and the USTA to give away Back to the Track t-shirts to fans, and all fans in attendance will have the chance to compete for a share of a $500 prize in this year’s Back to the Track handicapping contest. Other promotions taking place throughout the night include $1 hot dogs and sodas, free racing programs, driver and horse meet and greet, starting car rides, and announcers’ booth and paddock tours.

“We’re looking forward to participating in the 2013 Back to the Track celebration, in order to better showcase all the excitement that harness racing has to offer,” said SHHA president Barry Segel. “We’re also grateful to USTA and Saratoga Casino and Raceway for supporting our efforts, and are looking forward to an exciting evening back to the track.”
