Backstreet Shadow won his third straight Thursday at Dover

Dover, DE — Backstreet Shadow scored a hat trick in winning the Preferred Pace at Dover Downs on Thursday night (Feb. 28).

Key Advisor (Tony Morgan) quickly left cutting fractions of :27.1 and :55.4.  He forced San Domino A (George Napolitano Jr.) to take up pocket position in second.  San Domino A, confidently pulled the pocket and cleared Key Advisor midway down the backstretch on their approach to three-quarters.

Race favorite, Backstreet Shadow waited patiently from his rail position in third. As San Domino A cleared, Backstreet Shadow and Tim Tetrick were in full attack mode.  They surged past a well-fought San Domino A in the stretch and won by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:50.3.  

Backstreet Shadow is owned by Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, Karr, Silva-Purnel and Libby

Wiggle It Jiggleit (Montrell Teague) raced well following a second-over trip behind the race winner and picked up the show spot.  

Tim Tetrick picked up six wins on the card.

Wednesday (March 4) 2019 Horse of the Year Shartin N will kick off her 2020 campaign against five talented mares in the $50,000 Invitation Pace at Dover Downs.  Post time on Wednesday is 4:30 p.m.
