Bally’s/Dover Downs to open Oct. 31

Dover, DE — Live harness racing (53rd season) returns to Bally’s/Dover Downs for the upcoming 2022/2023 racing season.

The live harness racing season takes place Monday (Oct. 31) through Thursday (March 30). Dover will conduct an 83-day meet and race Monday through Thursday with a 4:30 p.m. post time.

Live harness racing will be dark Dec. 20 through Dec. 26 and return on Dec. 27.

The Matron Stakes will return to the five-eighths-mile oval. All 2-year-olds will compete on Thursday (Nov. 3). All 3-year-olds will compete on Thursday (Nov. 10).

The Progress Pace elimination is scheduled for Thursday (Nov. 17). The Progress Pace final will take place on Wednesday (Nov. 23), the day before Thanksgiving.

Delaware Standardbred Breeders’ Fund races will also be held: 2-year-olds Nov. 7 through Nov. 16 ($20,000 elims) and Nov. 21 through Nov. 23 ($100,000 finals) and 3-year-olds Nov. 28 through Dec. 8 ($20,000 elims) and Dec. 12 through Dec. 15 ($100,000 finals).

Qualifying races are on Wednesdays at 10 a.m.

The draw schedule for the live racing meet will be as follows: Monday-Thursday, Tuesday-Monday, Wednesday-Tuesday and Thursday-Wednesday. The box closes at noon.
