Balmoral Park goes pink to fight breast cancer

from Balmoral Park

Crete, IL — As Balmoral Park prepares to close its doors for the final time at the end of December, the nearly 90-year-old track remains committed to continuing their fight against breast cancer with the annual “Paint the Park Pink” night this Saturday (Oct. 10).

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Winner’s circle photo will take place at approximately 7:30 p.m.

  • Free Pink Bracelets — the first 500 female patrons receive a free pink “Built On Pure Horsepower” bracelet.
  • Pink Horseshoes — fans are encouraged to purchase an actual pink horseshoe in support or memory of someone who has been affected by breast cancer. Horseshoes are sold as a pair for $5; one to take home and the other displayed with a personalized message on the “Paint the Park Pink” boards along the main entrance for all of October.
  • Wear Pink And Join The Group Photo In The Winner’s Circle — all men and women are encouraged to wear pink and come together in the winner’s circle after the third race for a group photo with the winning horse.
  • Drinks Fight Too — Balmoral Park will offer aluminum pints of Miller Lite, Coors Light and MGD for $3.50 with a portion of each sale going towards the fight against breast cancer in Chicagoland.
  • Buy Runnin’ With The Horses Apparel — Balmoral Park will be selling all of the remaining 5k shirts from the Runnin’ With The Horses event in June that also benefited DWCC and the fight against breast cancer. Both tech shirts and cotton t-shirts are available. Sizes and quantities vary.

“Breast cancer has touched nearly everyone in one way or another,” states Director of Marketing Ken Churilla. “What we would like to achieve on Oct. 10 is to pull together a large number of breast cancer fighters, survivors, and the ones that love them to raise money for the fight against this deadly disease and have some fun at the same time.”

At the end of the month, all proceeds from Balmoral Park’s efforts will be donated to Dancing With Chicago Celebrities’ “One In A Million” campaign. DWCC is a Chicago based charity that donates money directly to breast cancer prevention and access to care in Chicagoland.
