Crete, IL — Long known for racing horses, this Saturday (June 11) Balmoral Park will host racing humans in the third annual Runnin’ With The Horses 5k run.

Proceeds benefit Daybreak Center of Will County, Ill., which provides housing and services to those in need.

The 5k course winds the historic grounds of Balmoral Park with the final mile on the track finishing at the actual finish line as horses for the night’s races warm up on the outside of the track.

Awards are given to the top three overall male and top three overall female finishers in addition to the top three male and females in each division.

Registration is $25 per person and includes:

• Event race shirt
• Post race fruit and refreshments
• One free pint of beer at the Brewhaha Beer Festival (for runners 21 and over). The Brewhaha features over two dozen craft beers, live music by The Muddsharks, food and live racing. Admission to the Brewhaha is free.
