Columbus, OH — Barbara Ruth Finn, 76, died Feb. 20, 2013, at Saratoga Hospital.

She was born Dec. 12, 1936, in Mooers Forks, N.Y., the daughter of the late Harry and Winifred Garrand Jeffery.

Mrs. Finn enjoyed the outdoors, especially birds and the Adirondack Mountains. She lived in Malone when she was younger and spent time in Saranac Lake and the surrounding areas.

She met her husband, Don, and was introduced to a wonderful family that was from the Saranac area. Barbara and Don were married Aug. 31, 1968. She was very fond of her father-in-law, Roy, and Don’s sisters, Patti and Peg.

When Barbara met Don, he was an avid harness horse enthusiast. He had been attending the races with his neighbors from Rochester and had decided to start a career training horses. They had a stable for several years at Vernon Downs and then relocated to Saratoga Springs. Don currently trains horses with their daughter, Karisue, at Saratoga Raceway.

Mrs. Finn enjoyed going to the races and handicapping with a few of her friends who would meet regularly in the grandstand. She leaves behind a lot of friends she missed when she couldn’t go to the racetrack anymore.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; daughters, Sandra (Mark) Makara and Karisue (Joe); son, Paul (Jacqueline); brother, Robert (Marla) Jeffery and his children, Nicole, Robert and Amy; daughter-in-law, Brenda; grandchildren, Sara, Jaclyn, Dawn and Daniel; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; two sisters; and sons, Donald J. and Jeffrey.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
