Bart Glass, 74, dies

Columbus, OH — James Barton “Bart” Glass, 74, of Stanford, Ky., died Jan 15, 2012.

Born in Philadelphia, Pa., he was the son of the late James Edgar and Mary Julia Neely Glass.

He was a respected livestock expert and consultant to many Standardbred breeders and both the Kentucky Standardbred and Lexington Selected Sales companies.

Mr. Glass was a former president of the Mid-East Region of the American Chianina Association and was very active in the Angus Cattle. His award winning cattle included Walbridge Barbara 12, Proud Lassie 649, Walbridge Milestone, Lombard, Walco Ky Colonel, Walco Golden Girl, Walco Silhouette, and Walco Best Bet.

His top Standardbreds included Hesza Laser, Hez Striking, Metropolitan, Scootin Mercedes, Lady Wesgate and Tallulah Belle.

Mr. Glass is survived by his wife, Jane; sons, John Daniel, James Barton (Lia) Jr. and Barton L. (Barbara); sister, Betty Jane (Ralph) Maerz; and grandchildren, Justus Barton, Joshua Barton, Lauren Jane, James Jordan, Jacon Ryan and Lindsey Faye.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 21) at Stith Funeral Home in Danville, Ky. Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. preceding the service at Stith Funeral Home. Interment will be in Glass Family Cemetery on their farm.
