Bax looking for some luck with Define The World

Campbellville, ON — With the C$772,000 Maple Leaf Trot just a few days away, trainer John Bax is looking for racing luck with his charge Define The World.

The 5-year-old son of Duke Of York finished second in the C$113,000 Masters Series final at Georgian Downs recently despite qualifying the day before at Mohawk Racetrack. Define The World drew the rail from the second also eligible list, so Bax decided to race him.

The millionaire then finished fourth one week later in his Maple Leaf Trot elimination but didn’t perform as expected according to Bax.

“In the elimination of the Maple Leaf Trot he didn’t finish up the way I thought he would. We scoped him afterwards and his throat was really constricted so his allergies are bothering him right now,” Bax told WEG’s media department.

“I’m hoping there are some fools out there that are a little tough on the front end. Out of the 10 hole, you have to get lucky. He’s competitive and he will put on a good show,” Bax commented.

Regular pilot Paul MacDonell will handle the lines Saturday night for owner Al Libfeld.

The Maple Leaf Trot goes to post in race seven which is scheduled for 9:45 p.m.
