Mark MacDonald piloted Beachy Girl to her fourth straight victory.

Mark MacDonald guided the rookie daughter of Real Desire-Color Me Beachy to the 1:54.1 win and, in the process, kept her undefeated streak intact at four straight.

Leaving from post one in the field of eight, Beachy Girl got away fourth through the opening quarter of :27.3. MacDonald put her in gear in the second stanza and cleared to command in :56.4. After the three-quarters flashed up in 1:26.1, the sprint was on and the race was for place.

Beachy Girl won by 2-1/4 lengths over last week’s winner B M Mcw, with Seafaring Girl landing the show spot.

More than $20,000 was wagered to show on Beachy Girl, who paid just $2.70 for the win.

“She’s just really handy and almost acts like an aged horse out there,” said winning driver Mark MacDonald. “You want to try and teach them a bit at this point, so I just let things settle early and then moved her to the front in the second quarter.

“I asked her at the top of the stretch. She paced hard for about an eighth of a mile and then I shut her down again at the end.”

Beachy Girl is trained by Joe Seekman, who co-owns along with Hal Hewitt of Versailles, Kentucky. Thursday night’s win increased her seasonal bankroll to just under $50,000.

Striking Sahbra sons shine in OSS Gold elims

Sons of Ontario Sires Stakes stalwart Striking Sahbra took two of three C$38,182 Gold eliminations for 2-year-old colt and gelding trotters at Mohawk Racetrack.

Andiron Springs (1:58.4) for Trevor Ritchie and B Strike Three (1:58.4) for Rick Zeron, both offspring of Striking Sahbra, were victorious while Pizzazzed, a son of Kadabra, took the other split for trainer-driver Roger Hammer in 1:58.3.

Pizzazzed was perhaps the most impressive of the three as he overcame a gapped-out start from the trailing post 11 to score over the pocket-sitting Mr Mission.

The C$130,000 OSS Gold Final will be contested next Thursday night at Mohawk. Here is a look at the field in post position order:
