Frehold, NJ — Bee A Magician, a 5-year-old female trotter, reclaimed the No. 1 spot in this week’s Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll following her stakes-record 1:51.4 win in the Armbro Flight Stakes at Mohawk Racetrack.
North America Cup winner Wakizashi Hanover, a 3-year-old male pacer, made a big move into the Top 10, adding 209 points to his total from last week to land at No. 4 in the rankings. Wakizashi Hanover defeated previously unbeaten Wiggle It Jiggleit by three-quarters of a length to win the Cup in 1:48, just one-fifth of a second off the stakes record.
Wiggle It Jiggleit fell from the top spot to second in the poll.
JL Cruze, who won the third leg of the Graduate Series for 4-year-old trotters by a half-length over Father Patrick in 1:50.4, moved from fifth to third in this week’s rankings. Father Patrick is fifth.
Another newcomer to the Top 10 is Doo Wop Hanover, who won the third leg of the Graduate Series for 4-year-old pacers, and joined the group at No. 6. Doo Wop Hanover won by one length over fellow Top 10 member Rockeyed Optimist in 2:02.3, setting the world record for the distance of 1-1/8 miles.
