Bee A Magician, shown here with her Hall of Fame driver Brian Sears, is retired after what will certainly be a Hall of Fame career.

Just several weeks ago her conditioner, Richard “Nifty” Norman, was thrilled with how the 7-year-old was training for this year’s campaign after recovering from a tendon injury sustained in a paddock accident last year.

“She is just big everywhere,” he said. “She has a big butt and big belly; I couldn’t be happier with how she is doing right now.”

Owned by Mel Hartman, Herb Livermore and David McDuffee, Bee A Magician, was simply superb. The world champion defeated male rivals, collected multiple Dan Patch and O’Brien Awards and amassed nearly $4.1 million while competing.

She will most certainly be missed, not only by her fans and those who worked with her daily, but especially by her trainer.

“There is only one Bee A Magician,” Norman said. “She is my horse of a lifetime.”
