‘Behind the Gate’ now in its second printing

by Larry and Nancy Resnitzky

Behind the Gate, a harness racing book by Paul Murphy, is now a best seller on Prince Edward Island (PEI).

Released December 4 to a packed house at the lower level of the Charlottetown Driving Park Entertainment Centre, the book is now nearing a second sell out in its rushed second printing to meet the demand. All this in less than three weeks.

The book focuses on harness racing profiles of PEI’s and other Maritime harness racing greats and grassroots people and their horses. In the year of Somebeachsomewhere and Shadow Play, Maritime stars are in the limelight. PEI’s Wally Hennessey and Moni Maker; Dr. Ian Moore and this year’s winner of the Little Brown Jug, Shadow Play; Nova Scotia’s and Canada’s winningest female driver of all time, Clare MacDonald; and New Brunswick’s celebrated Gilles Barrieau represent a few of the 33 profiles in this book.

Orders for the book have been coming in to Retromedia Publishing in Charlottetown from as far away as Australia; New Jersey, Ohio, and Florida in the United States; and Ontario, Alberta and the Maritimes in Canada. Outside of PEI, Behind the Gate is only available online at www.retromedia.ca.
