Belina Josselyn has raced for the last time

The French trotting ballerina, the 9-year-old mare Belina Josselyn, went out on a high note, winning this past Sunday’s Prix de Paris at Vincennes.

This was her fourth Group 1-win and she will now have a rest before she will be bred to Ready Cash

Belina Josselyn, who is the second richest French mare ever with earnings of $2.8 million, has raced 74 times and won 23 races.

Besides winning twice in the marathon race, the Prix de Paris (raced over 4,150 meters), she has won the Prix d’Amerique and the Prix de France — the three biggest races in the Winter meeting at Vincennes — and all Group 1-races.

Belina Josselyn is sired by Love You and out of Lezira Josselyn, she by Workaholic (he by Speedy Crown). Belina Josselyn took a mark of 1:53 (mile rate), winning the Prix de France over 1-5/16th miles. She has never raced over a mile and never outside France.

The combination of Ready Cash and Love You is the new golden cross in France. Bold Eagle and this year’s winner of the Prix d’Amerique, Face Time Bourbon, are both sired by Ready Cash and out of a mare by Love You.
