Bella Ava takes fourth straight in Harrah’s Philadelphia feature

Chester, PA — Bella Ava stepped up in class again and extended her current winning streak to four, holding off a late bid from favorite Winnerup to take a new mark of 1:53.2 in the $13,600 trotting feature on Thursday afternoon (Aug. 6) at Harrah’s Philadelphia.

Dexter Dunn made two moves to control the pace with Bella Ava, who then opened up ground on the second-over Winnerup on the backstretch before using a :56.1 final half to win by 1-1/2 lengths. Jenny Melander trains the daughter of Cantab Hall for the JPS Racing Stables LLC.

Driver Tyler Buter and trainer Todd Buter shipped in and swept the pair of $11,600 co-features on the card. The faster of the two winners for the Buters was the Explosive Matter gelding Rich And Miserable, who advanced uncovered into a :55.2 back half and won comfortably in 1:52.1 for Buter Farm Inc., Lynette Buter, and William and Carol Fuhs.

The Muscle Massive gelding Two AM won for the same ownership group in 1:53.1, angling out of the pocket at head-stretch and inheriting the lead when Broadway Athena briefly went off stride.

The Jackpot Hi-5 carryover at Harrah’s Philadelphia continues to build, now standing at $18,581.02 in advance of Friday’s (Aug. 7) card.

Favorites Two AM ($3.40) and Broadway Athena took the top two positions in Thursday’s fifth race, leading a 4-5-2-1-7 Hi-5 combination which paid $42.08 to multiple players and prompting the carryover to grow for another day.

The Jackpot Hi-5 is a 20-cent base wager with a 15% takeout, and occurs in the fifth race every day at Harrah’s Philadelphia. The carryover is paid out only in the event of one unique winning ticket.

Post time on Friday is 12:25 p.m. Eastern.
