Bellacache powers to Lightning Lane win in Meadows feature

Washington, PA — Bellacache waited patiently in the pocket, then brushed by the 1-5 favorite, Wakemeshakeme, in the Lightning Lane to capture Wednesday’s (Aug. 30) feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $13,500 conditioned pace for fillies and mares.

Wakemeshakeme enjoyed a :29.3 second-quarter breather, but she was no match late for Aaron Merriman and Bellacache, who downed her by a head in 1:53.3, with Premier Delainey third. Although Wakemeshakeme had to settle for place, the 6-year-old mare vaulted over $200,000 in career earnings.

Dave Palone and Merriman each piloted three winners on the 12-race card.

Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday (Aug. 31); first post is 12:45 p.m.
