Beltrami, Ciuffetelli reign supreme in AHDC trots at Freehold

Freehold, NJ — Italian pride was booming Saturday (Oct. 23) in the AHDC Trot at Freehold Raceway as each division was won by a Tony.

In the first of two divisions, Tony Beltrami put the adage of slow and steady wins the race to good use. After Joe Faraldo sent Turbochargedpete to the lead, Bob Hechkoff came first up with Southwind Frost to hard challenge the leader past the half. The two battled head-to-head until Southwind Frost made a miscue at the top of the stretch. All Rise and Tony Beltrami who was second over put his best foot forward and he charged towards the weakening leader. Simultaneously, Crazy About Pat and Jacob Stillwell was swinging around him with a late rush but he broke stride also. So, the steady All Rise went by Turbochargedpete to win by a length and three quarters in 1:58:2.
All Rise, a 5-year-old Conway Hall gelding, is owned by Tony Beltrami and trained by Edwin Quevedo. $12.80 was the win price for the Gelding’s supporters.
In the Second event of the day, Tony Ciuffetelli came down from Saratoga and made the most of his long trip sealing the deal with his gelding Trump This. After Fusion Power with Paul Minore set quick early fractions, Fiji and Dave Offenberg came first over to challenge the tiring leader. Trump This road the perfect second over trip and stormed three wide on the last turn taking the lead midway through the stretch. Masster Blue and Tony Verruso shot down into the passing lane, but Trump This had already got away from him and won by a length and a half in 2:00:3. Masster Blue got up for place dough with Fiji holding on for third.
Trump This, a 6-year-old Airzoom Lindy Gelding, is owned by Joe & Albert Ciuffetelli and trained by Tony Ciuffetelli. He returned $11.00 to his loyal backers. Once again, the betting support for the amateur races was outstanding and the public was rewarded with two well-driven, competitive races.
