Beltrami wins GSY Series race at The Meadowlands

East Rutherford, NJ — Amateur pacers were back at The Meadowlands on Friday night (Nov. 6), with a full field of 10 going to post.

After long shot Bluebird Goldwyn (Dave Yarock) won a speed duel through a :27.3 quarter, Tony Beltrami, sitting behind Watchmeneighneigh, took command and never looked back. Beltrami and Watchmeneighneigh coasted once clear on the lead, as a couple of horses could only get within a length of them in a swift 1:52 mile. Tailgunner Hanover (Juan Cano) got up for second off a layoff, and Good Day Mate (James Foley) closed for third.

Although Beltrami isn’t new to the winner’s circle, his horse paid a generous $15.20 to win. The 5-year old Voracious Hanover gelding is trained by Williams Hernandez for owner Maria Alvarez.

The GSY Series will be set for next week with stops at Monticello on Wednesday afternoon (Nov. 11) and The Meadowlands next Friday night (Nov. 13).
