Bernard Haskell Jr., 68, dies

Columbus, OH — Bernard Parker “Buddy” Haskell, Jr., 68, of Portland, Maine, died March 23, 2011, at a Portland hospital.

Mr. Haskell was born in Portland, the son of Bernard and Ann Wilbur Haskell.

He worked as a property manager in New Jersey for 15 years. After retiring, he became a Standardbred owner and trainer.

He was a former officer of the Sons of the American Legion in Hightstown, N.J., and was also a member of the Portland Eagles and the Maine Harness Horsemen’s Association.

Mr. Haskell is survived by his wife, Claire (Carrier); his first wife, Marlene Hammonds; sons, James (Julie) and Robert; daughters, Christine Esposito and Kathie (Patrick) Murphy; stepson, Jason Winslow; brothers, Michael, Frank and Patrick (Jennifer); sister, Deborah Champagne-Dale (Danny); nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life was held on March 27.
