Washington, PA — Better Caviar extended his career unbeaten streak to four, using an uncharacteristic burst of early speed to capture a division of Monday’s (March 21) Ken Weaver Memorial Trot at The Meadows. Mr Caviar took the other $15,000 second leg division of the series for 3- and 4-year-old colts, horses and geldings.

Unraced at 2, Better Caviar won his first three starts in closing fashion. In Monday’s leg, however, he left alertly from post six for Dan Rawlings and cleared to the lead despite several bad steps. The sophomore son of SJ’s Caviar-Better Credit settled down to blow away the field, prevailing by 11 lengths in 1:58.4. A Shoe In finished second, with Highway third.

David Wade trains Better Caviar and owns with Gerald Brittingham, Kelley Rogers and William F. Peel III.

Mr Caviar broke stride in his two most recent starts, but in Monday’s leg, he was all business, scoring on the front end for Brett Miller in 1:56.3. Handsome Photo rallied for second, four lengths back, while Andoversure was third.

Bruce Riegle trains Mr Caviar, a 4-year-old son of SJ’s Caviar-Miss Pine Chip, for Jarbo Enterprises.

In the $22,500 Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Pace, PJ Count On Luck proved that the last sometimes shall be first when his early trailing position enabled him to avoid the confusion caused by two breaking horses near the quarter.

He rallied wide for Tony Hall to upset at 6-1 in 1:52.4. Handsome Prince, who was bothered by the breakers, was a game second, 1-1/4 lengths in arrears, with Object Of Art third.

Mike Palone trains PJ Count On Luck, a 7-year-old Camluck-PJ Tessa gelding, for Fran Azur.

Miller and Dave Palone each drove three winners on the 15-race card while trainer Ron Burke also enjoyed a triple.
