Betty Jo Sherman, 85, dies

Columbus, OH — Betty Jo Sherman, 85, formerly of Elmore, Ohio, died May 3, 2021, at Valley View Health Campus in Fremont, Ohio.

She was born April 19, 1936, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Forrest B. “Smiley” and Kleta (Diels) Moyer. She was a graduate of Gibsonburg High School.

On June 15, 1957, she married Daryl Sherman and he survives. She worked in the office for Daryl for many years and was a homemaker.

The Shermans are long-time Standardbred owners and Daryl is a past president of the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Fremont. In years prior, she also played the organ for many years at Grace Lutheran Church in Elmore.

She was member of the Republican State Central Committee and longtime president of the Ottawa County Republican Women’s Club. She was also a past member of the Woodville Board of Education, prior to the consolidation.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Daryl; children, Sarah (Robert) Siegel and Kent (Jennifer); grandchildren, Emma Siegel, Tess Siegel, Nadia, Samuel, and Jacob.

Services will be announced at a later date. Crosser & Priesman Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore-Genoa Chapel, is assisting the family with arrangements.
