Ft. Washington, MD — Sean Bier had three wins on the night and took the Open Handicap Trot with Believe In Him in a 7-1 upset on Sunday night (Feb. 9) at Rosecroft Raceway.

Bier scored his 2,500th career win Wednesday night with Believe In Him. He rallied the 6-year-old Conway Hall mare to victory Sunday night from sixth and overtook What That Is in an exciting stretch duel in a lifetime best 1:55.4. James Brown trains and co-owns the trotter with Betsy Brown and Morgan Marston.

Bier also won with Hilarious Lou ($6.40) for his wife Crissy Crissman-Bier and Vincent Ferriero Jr. and Hide The Cheddar ($11.40) for Carolin Oglesby and trainer Clyde Oglesby Jr.

Eddie Davis Jr. won the $12,000 Open Handicap Pace with Rollinlikethunder ($12.80) for Dan Warrington and Don Hawk. The 5-year-old son of Roll With Joe rallied from seventh and caught pacesetter Wakizashi Hanover in 1:52.3.

It was the second of two wins for Davis, just back from missing time due to a rib injury, as he steered American Rock ($3.20) to a win for trainer Janet Davis. Steven Zajchowski Jr., along with David and Christine Thibault own the Rocknroll Hanover gelding who won in 1:53.2.

Tony Morgan won two races for Charlene Sharpe as Classic stunned a terrific conditioned field of pacers in 1:50.2. Mason Shaw owns the Sweet Lou gelding who went wire-to-wire.

Morgan came right back in the next race and won with Double Again ($18.20) for owner Douglas Lankford. The Dragon Again gelding made a strong brush to the lead heading to the half and won in 1:53.2, holding off a fast closing Bo Breeze by a half-length.

Jonathan Roberts posted a double winning with Always A Tiger who made his seasonal debut a winning one. The 10-year-old Cam Terrific gelding caught pacesetter Magnum Mike who tried to bottom out the field with fractions of :26.3, :54.4, and 1:23.3 before succumbing to the charge of the eventual winner for owner Joseph Plummer and trainer Jason Walters.

Roberts led Owzitgoin to the winner’s circle at 5-1 for Breakaway Racing and trainer Shaun Callahan.

The pari-mutuel highlight of the night was Declan Donoway winning with Little Power at 51-1 for trainer Kerry King and owner Robert Pulley.

Since Rosecroft reopened after a three-year hiatus, Sunday night’s handle of more than $392,000 was a high since the return of live racing.
