Big League Yankee wins Dover feature

Dover, DE — Big League Yankee, owned by family members of the late baseball star Charles Keller, won the Thursday, Dec. 20, feature at Dover Downs.
Meet leading driver Tony Morgan steered Big League Yankee to a 1:53.4 victory, taking an $11,500 male pace. The Kellers and the Biddles bred and own the Dragon Again sophomore gelding. Reserve Forces (Eddie Davis, Jr.) was second with Coletown USA (George Dennis) the show horse.
Bill Emmons’ Kilkerran Scot scored a 1:54.2 triumph in a $25,000 claiming allowance with Mike Cole annexing one of his three wins for the night. Fully Exotic (Ross Wolfenden) picked up second money with Cash Only Please (Tony Morgan) the third place finisher.
Arty Foster’s Art’s Son won the battle for first place between altered sons of Artsplace, as Ross Wolfenden guided the 4-year-old to his second straight success, a 1:54.1 victory in a $20,000 claiming allowance. Art’s Sake (Tony Morgan) was runner-up with CR Shanghai (Mike Cole) finishing third.
The annual Christmas Holiday Break Week is on with racing resuming on Saturday, Dec. 29, Fan Appreciation Day at the track.
