Billy Haughton, Jr. and Ted Black talk on North American Harness Update

Grantville, PA — Blog Talk Radio show North American Harness Update featured royal blood in Billy Haughton, Jr., son of Billy and brother of Peter. Also on the show was Ted Black, president of the Mid-Atlantic chapter of USHWA, a writer for Hoof Beats and a journalist for other sports.

Haughton brought up some stories from growing up at the track, but also brought up serious issues that were thoroughly discussed in the midst of the Meadowlands late Pick-4. He talked about the changes in racing from the time he was growing up to today, including equipment improvements and fan base. Also discussed were an overage on race dates, brought up due to dwindling entries at the Meadowlands.

Ted Black came on and handicapped the $75,000 late Pick-4 for Saturday at the Meadowlands. Black was also involved in the topic of the breeding industry, where he discussed how different states are building strong breeding programs and others that are falling.

Also featured on the show was a tribute to Rocknroll Hanover, whose death was announced late on Thursday at Perretti Farms. He was euthanized due to issues with his stomach. Ray Cotolo led in the remembrance of the world champion pacer and top stallion.
