Billy Lincoln N ends Scootnroll’s streak at Pocono

Wilkes-Barre, PA — Billy Lincoln N ended Scootnroll’s seven-race win streak with a 1:52.2 victory in one of four $12,000 featured events on the Sunday (Oct. 4) twilight card at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono.

Billy Lincoln N advanced three-wide to claim the lead through a :27.2 opening quarter before driver Marcus Miller backed the half off to :57.2. Scootnroll advanced uncovered to challenge on the backstretch, but Billy Lincoln N maintained his lead by the 1:25.2 three-quarters and opened a little daylight on the turn. But Scootnroll was far from finished: he battled back in a :27.2 final quarter, though his effort was not quite enough to catch Billy Lincoln N, who won by a neck. Tahnee Camilleri trains the Bettor’s Delight gelding for David Kryway and 1362313 Ontario Ltd.

In the other featured event for male pacers, Ben Rockin rallied up the Pocono Pike to catch pacesetting favorite Warrawee Veloce in a lifetime-best 1:53.1 for trainer Bill Mullin and owner Robert John Becker. Anthony Napolitano, who won five races on the card, drove the A Rocknroll Dance gelding.

In the pacing distaff section, Galleria Gal stalked a fast pace and swept to a new speed badge of 1:52.2. Tyler Buter drove the 3-year-old Art Major filly for trainer John Berger and owners Theresa Donnelly and Fernando Arnesti Jr.

Finally, the trotting feature saw Pembroke Yoyo amass a giant early lead after the other major leaver made a break, then hold together to withstand the late moves of favorites Celebrity Miracle and Kyrie Deo in 1:55.4. The Andover Hall gelding won off a 25-day spell for driver Hunter Oakes, trainer Scott Betts and owner Nicholas Catalano.
