Binkley, Arnold, Price win Delaware (Ohio) GLADA splits

Delaware, OH — Alesha Binkley, Jazmin Arnold and Tylor Price won their respective Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association races on Sunday (Sept. 19) at the Delaware County Fair.

Binkley won with Lucius Vorenus in 1:58.4, Arnold copped her split with Mj’slibertyvalance in 2:01.1, and Price — who earned the first win of his driving career — was victorious with Quadrangle in 1:58.1.

Lucius Vorenus was dispatched as the second choice in the six-horse field, and Binkley wasted no time sending her charge to the lead. Once on top, she gave the veteran Father Patrick trotter his head, and Lucius Vorenus drew off to a 7-1/2-length triumph over favorite Gonna Fly (Steve Oldford). PC’s Alleyway and Shawn Sweeney finished third.

Lucius Vorenus, who is owned and trained by Stacey Van Huizen, paid $6.20 to win. It was Binkley’s 27th career driving win.

Arnold likewise rode the front end to prevail with Mj’slibertyvalence in 2:01.1. After cutting all the early fractions, Arnold’s trotter hung tough and eked out a nose victory over Steve Oldford’s A Royal Line.

Doyle Bross owns and trains the altered son of Wishing Stone, who returned a $7.80 win mutuel. For Arnold, it was her 27th career driving victory.

In the third split, Price was content to follow the leaders until the halfway point, where he moved Quadrangle off the pylons and began moving up, chasing Don Sherman’s Heidi’s Heart to the head of the lane before rallying to a neck triumph over Sherman’s charge in 1:58.1. Utopia and Tony Verruso finished third.

Anthony Price trains Quadrangle, who paid $14.00 to win, for owner James Dutton.
