Bittrsweetsymphony wins 13th in a row win capturing Buckeye Stallion Series final

Grove City, OH – Bittrsweetsymphony made it look easy winning for the 13th straight time to win the Buckeye Stallion Series championship for 2-year-old filly pacers at MGM Northfield Park, Saturday (Oct. 17).

Tyler Smith sat the daughter of Well Said off the pace, making his move down the back stretch. Bittrsweetsymphony pulled away around the final turn to win by six lengths for trainer Crist Hershberger in 1:53.2. Bittrsweetsymphony is owned by CNC Stables LL and David J. Miller. The 13th straight win is the longest streak in the U.S. With the win, Bittrsweetsymphony has won 13 of 17 this year and pushed her earnings to $108,085.

Miss Cowboy Star and Kurt Sugg rallied down the passing lane to capture the 2-year-old filly trot championship by a head in 1:57.3. The win was the eighth of the year for the Long Tom filly. Trained by Edward Miller and owned by Rebecca Sugg, Steven Maas, and John Duke Sugg, Miss Cowboy Star has earned $75,221 in her freshman campaign.

All Gas And No Brakes put the pedal to the metal just past the half mile mark and rolled to a 4-1/4 length victory to win the 2-year-old colt and gelding trot championship. All Gas And No Brakes tripped the wire in 1:57.2, a new lifetime mark, for driver Trevor Smith and trainer Todd Luther. The son of Uncle Peter is nine for 15 this year and has earned just over $70,000 for Black Magic Racing LLC.

Western Ready and Aaron Merriman took the lead at the quarter pole, and then retook the lead at the half mile mark for good, cruising to a 6-3/4 length victory to win the 2-year-old colt and gelding pacing championship in 1:52.1. Western Ready is trained by Scott Ferguson and owned by Brendan Toops. Toops saved money cutting grass to purchase the Western Vintage gelding for $3,700. Western Ready has earned $106,993 this year.

Merriman went back-to-back, winning the 3-year-old filly trot final with Fiesty Pistol. The Triumphant Caviar filly went gate to wire to win by a length in 1:57 for trainer Chris Beaver. Fiesty Pistol is owned by Beaver, David Meola, Donald Robinson and RBH Ventures. She has won 12 of 24 this year and now has lifetime earnings of $119,834.

Disaronno Hill and Brett Miller sat fourth and made her move at the half mile mark and cruised to a 2-3/4 length victory in the 3-year-old filly pace championship in 1:53.3. The daughter of Racing Hill won for the ninth time in 20 starts this year for trainer Virgil Morgan Jr. The filly is co-owned by Morgan Jr., his daughter Kiara and son Tre and Carl Howard. With the win Disaronno Hill has now has just over $120,000 in lifetime earnings.

Castyourcrown and Matt Kakaley grabbed a three-length lead after a quarter of a mile and never looked back winning easily in 1:57.3 to claim the 3-year-old colt and gelding trot championship. The son of Dontyouforgetit won for the third time this year and is trained by Michael Deruntz and owned by Blake Daniels. Not raced as a 2-year-old, Castyourcrown has now earned $68,400.

In the final championship of the night, Trevor Smith picked up his second championship drive of the night in the three-year-old colt and gelding pace with Walknafter Midnight. Driving for his father Jeff Smith, Trevor took the pocket trip and fired down the passing lane to win by a head in 1:54.1. Owned by Bet The House LLC, the son of Racing Hill, did not race as a two-year-old and has won eight of 21 this year, earning nearly $87,000.
