Bobby Neuman named interim announcer at Pompano

from Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park

Pompano Beach, FL — The Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park is pleased to announce the hiring of Bobby Neuman as the interim live harness racing announcer at the South Florida venue when the 2012-2013 season convenes on Wednesday (Sept. 19).

“Bobby is well known in South Florida and in racing circles for his excellent work announcing at Calder Race Course for the past decade,” said John Yinger, Racing Operations Director at Pompano. “He joins a list of accomplished announcers including Tom Durkin, Ken Warkentin, Sam McKee and Dan Loiselle to cross over between the Thoroughbred and harness breeds and we’re really pleased to be able to retain Bobby’s services on an interim basis.”

Neuman, 43, originally hails from Los Angeles and is a resident of Weston, Fla. He is an avid golfer and fan of all sports, with the Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings at the top of his list. Neuman’s prior harness race announcing credits include a meet at The Red Mile and he is a graduate of the University of Arizona’s Racetrack Industry Program.

Neuman’s appointment also means that Canadian veteran Frank Salive will not be returning to Pompano.

“Leaving us was a decision Frank struggled with a lot over the past year, but he’s decided to take time off for the coming winter or perhaps retire to projects of his choosing back in Canada in the future,” Yinger said. “We feel fortunate to have had Frank here for what may have been the final three years of his career. We’re sad to see him go since he was a great fit for the ‘snowbird’ crowd but understand his decision to take his first extended time off. In his time here Frank helped us improve our Canadian export handle by almost 15 percent and he always went the extra mile to help with our promotions and in our casino.”
