Bourbans Best scores 50th career win at MGM Northfield Park

Northfield, OH — Bourbans Best paced home for his 50th career victory, winning the second race at MGM Northfield Park on Tuesday (May 11).

The 14-year-old veteran, with 444 career starts, also has 55 seconds and 57 third-place finishes. Bourbans Best (Pro Bono Best–Mattachevitz–Matt’s Scooter) has career earnings of $295,028 with a lifetime mark of 1:52, taken at Northfield at age 12.

The gelding’s richest win was for a purse of $14,000 in a Late Closing Series final at Northfield in 2019. Bourbans Best is a well-traveled campaigner as  his 444 starts have been spread across 12 different racing surfaces.

Bourbans Best started from post three in the evening’s $5,000 claiming event. He let his competition carve-out fractions of :27 and :56.1, before pulling first-over and taking the lead nearing the 1:25.1 three-quarters and eventually besting his competition by two lengths in 1:54.3. He was favored in the race and paid $4.00 to win.
