Box closes Monday for Dayton derbies and Ohio-sired prep races

from Hollywood Gaming Raceway

Dayton, OH — Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway racing officials are eagerly awaiting 10 a.m. on Monday morning (Sept. 24) when the entry box closes for the Dayton Pacing Derby and Dayton Trotting Derby, both of which will be contested on Friday night (Sept. 28). The fifth annual edition of each Grand Circuit race will have a purse of $150,000 or more, and are expected to attract most of North America’s top older horses.

Conditions of the Dayton Derbies call for the top nine 2018 money winners to earn starting berths. Supplemental nominations are also possible for a $15,000 fee. Entries may be made online or by calling the race office at 937.235.7860 on Monday morning from 8-10:00 a.m.

Horsemen are also reminded that the draw for Thursday (Sept. 27) is also Monday morning with a 10 a.m. box closing. Highlight of the Thursday program is a series of eight $10,000 races for each division of Ohio-sired 2-and 3-year-old pacers and trotters. The races were designed to bridge the gap between Little Brown Jug week and the finals of the Buckeye Stallion Series on Oct. 6 at Northfield Park. All juvenile Ohio-sired horses, except those that competed in the lucrative Ohio Sires Stakes championship races, are welcome to enter.

A number of “sub races” have also been added to the Thursday condition sheet in case any of the special Ohio-sired events do not fill.
