Brandon Parker wins five at Monticello

Monticello, NY — In his young career driver Brandon Parker has won three races in a day a handful of times, but on Thursday (April 15) at Monticello Raceway, the 22-year-old Parker won five races on the 13-race card.

Next up was We Never Getacolt, who won by 1-1/2 lengths over pacesetter Redneck Fortune in 1:58.1.

One of Parker’s wins came by virtue of a dead heat in race nine when both Bettor Reason N and See You Friday crossed the wire in unison in 2:01.2. The win with Bettor Reason N gave trainer Milici a double on the afternoon.

Parker benefitted from driver James Scarpias giving Mike Merton the cold shoulder the entire mile in race 11. The field was four abreast at the top of the stretch, and Parker scored with Mom’s Crossroads over Scarpias and Fashion Dragon in 2:01.1.

The career milestone came with a wire-to-wire win aboard Starsky’s Dream N in the finale in 1:58.4. The 11-year-old Mach Three gelding is owned and trained by Brandon’s father, Billy “Zeke” Parker.

Brandon Parker is currently in seventh place for leading dash winning drivers at Monticello with 27 wins. Michael Merton is atop the leaderboard with 69 wins, followed by Bruce Aldrich Jr. with 56, and rounding out the top three is James Devaux with 55 trips to the winner circle.

Also on the card, trainer Candace Brandstatter had a double with Greg Merton getting the winning drive on both mounts.

More than $801,000 was wagered on the 13-race card.

Live racing resumes on Monday (April 19) with post time at 12:10 p.m.
