Breeders Crown draws 156 entries for Meadowlands championships

Cranbury, NJ — The first entry box of the Meadowlands fall championship meet was packed with 156 Breeders Crown trotters and pacers, creating eliminations on Friday (Nov. 14) and Saturday (Nov. 15) in all but five divisions.

The $5.4 million Breeders Crown finals will be conducted on Friday (Nov. 21) and Saturday (Nov. 22), celebrating the one-year anniversary of the new Meadowlands grandstand under the management of Jeff Gural. Post time for both final nights will be 7:15 p.m.

Sophomore trotters of both genders will advance directly to the $500,000 finals, fillies on Friday and colts on Saturday.

In alphabetical order the nine fillies entered are Cantabs Fortune, Cee Bee Yes, Heaven’s Door, Lifetime Pursuit, Market Rally, Riveting Rosie, Shake It Cerry, Struck By Lindy and Vanity Matters.

The powerful Takter team of Father Patrick and Nuncio are two of ten colt trotters entered. In alphabetical order they are Datsyuk, Don Dorado, E L Titan, Father Patrick, Harper Blue Chip, Hillustrious, Il Sogno Dream, Nuncio, Odds On Amethyst and Sumatra.

The $400,000 Crown Pace, $281,250 Mare Pace and $250,000 Mare Trot will go straight to the finals on Nov. 21 and 22.

A compact field of seven open pacers set for Saturday (Nov. 22) in alphabetical order are Bettor’s Edge, Clear Vision, Foiled Again, Modern Legend, State Treasurer, Sweet Lou and Thinking Out Loud.

Eleven mare pacers will also go straight to the final on Friday (Nov. 21) and include three past Breeders Crown champions. In alphabetical order they are Anndrovette, Camille, Charisma Hanover, Krispy Apple, Regil Elektra, Rocklamation, Shelliscape, Somwherovrarainbow, Venus Delight (S), Voelz Hanover, and Yagonnakissmeornot (S).

Reigning Horse of the Year and Breeders Crown champion Bee A Magician headlines the $250,000 mare trot, with eight entered. In alphabetical order they are Bee A Magician, Charmed Life, Classic Martine, D’Orsay, Handover Belle, Intense America, Ma Chere Hall and Mistery Woman. The Mare Trot is also scheduled for Friday (Nov. 21).

Complete elimination and final fields will be available when byes and elimination draws are finalized. The Breeders Crown 3-year-old colt pace, 3-year-old colt trot and open trot will be drawn at the press conference at Victory Sports Bar at The Meadowlands on Tuesday (Nov. 18) at 2 p.m.
