Delaware, OH — Some of racing’s biggest players have stepped up to give a percentage of their earnings to New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program this weekend during the Breeders Crown, held Nov. 21 and 22 in East Rutherford, N.J., at the Meadowlands.

New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program is working with trainers, drivers and owners of Breeders Crown contenders to pledge a percentage of their earnings to support the program’s mission to rehabilitate, retrain, and re-home retired race horses.

With a desire to give back, trainer Joe Holloway initiated conversations among horsemen with the idea of partnering with a charity during the Breeders Crown. After considering several options, Holloway and others recommended focusing on an aftercare charity that helps racehorses beyond the track. Holloway commented that the prestige and visibility of the Breeders Crown provide a unique opportunity to give back.

Driver Tim Tetrick wanted a way to give back to the industry and also raise awareness for retired racehorses.

“Our horses give their all on the track and when they retire they make great riding horses. New Vocations does a great job to see that many get a second chance,” Tetrick stated.

Tim’s brother Trace, who will be driving this year’s Jugette winner Color’s A Virgin, is also on board.

New Vocations will continue to seek pledges from additional owners, trainers and drivers throughout the Breeders Crown weekend.

We feel very blessed to see so many horsemen wanting to help out in our mission. Like last year we are on track to adopt more than 350 into homes by the end of December. The number of horses needing our services is huge and the funds raised from the pledges will help us continue to grow. It is fairly simple, the more money we raise the more horses we can take.
