Breeding stock reigns at Blooded Horse Winter Sale

Delaware, OH — Strong consignments attracted large crowds to the Blooded Horse Winter Sale this week. Buyers poured in from 24 states and four Canadian provinces, along with representatives for European interests.

The Bold Bidder consignment provided the sale topper in the Donato Hanover filly Myura Bi. Atlantic Trot purchased the first foal from the Pine Chip mare Spectacular Scarlet for $35,000. They also the purchased Gulfstream It, carrying her first foal by Donato Hanover, for $30,000. Norse Sunshine 3,1:55.3, also in foal to Donato Hanover, was purchased by foreign interests for $27,000 from the same consignment.

The Winterwood Farm dispersal of broodmares and yearlings was led by Stonebridge Volare 3, 2:00. The Yankee Paco daughter, carrying her first foal by Angus Hall, brought $20,000 from Floyd Bontrager of Indiana. The Striking Sahbra mare Indigo Sakra, in foal to Conway Hall, was purchased by Greg Martin of Ohio for $20,000. Jeff Jones, agent, signed the ticket for the beautiful gray triple 1:52 producer Silver Romance, in foal to Always A Virgin, for $15,000. Winterwood Farm was the consigning agent for Armonica Hanover, in foal to Explosive Matter, who went to Swedish interests for $18,000.

Martinez Equine brought 44 well bred mares and yearlings to the sale, 12 in foal to the hot young sire Major In Art. Stipple Hanover was one of these. Carrying her first foal, the daughter of Western Hanover was purchased by Sylvia Norris of Ohio for $20,000. The Credit Winner mare Miss Chloe, in foal to Glidemaster, was purchased by Joe Putnam of Indiana, also for $20,000.

It was a trotting mare with obvious broodmare potential that topped the racehorses. Closeness 3,1:56 was purchased by Dan Smith of Pennsylvania for $17,000. The daughter of Angus Hall out of Bonyoldkneesofher 2,1:58 was racing competitively at Pompano.
