Breedings available in New Vocations stallion auction

from New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program

Laura, OH — Breedings to Deweycheatumnhowe, Conway Hall, Dragon Again, Cam’s Card Shark, and Jailhouse Jesse are among the 82 seasons donated to New Vocations’ 13th annual stallion auction.

The auction starts at 2 p.m. on February 2 and runs through 2 p.m. on February 8 at www.ongait.com.

The auction is conducted in an open ended format that allows for bidding slightly beyond the 2 p.m. deadline if less than five minutes has elapsed since the last bid on a particular breeding. Bids can also be entered online from the New Vocations booth at the Blooded Horse Sale.

People are asked to be considerate and not bid for mares over 20, ones that have been barren two or more consecutive years, or those that are already booked.

New Vocations is the largest racehorse adoption program in the country, placing 333 horses in carefully screened and monitored homes in 2010. Proceeds from the stallion auction go toward the care, retraining, and placement of retired racehorses.

“We would like to thank all the stallion donors for their generous support,” said Executive Director Dot Morgan. “They enable us to equip these horses with useful skills and get them into loving homes that will give them a life beyond the track. Every horse we adopt becomes an ambassador for the breed.”
