Breedings, merchandise needed to benefit New Vocations

from New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program

Laura, OH — New Vocations is currently organizing its 11th annual Stallion and Merchandise Auction to be held in conjunction with the Blooded Horse Sale on February 9 and 10.

“This is a dangerous time for unwanted horses, and a successful stallion auction is essential to our ability to handle the staggering number of horses that need us,” says Executive Director Dot Morgan.

New Vocations offers hundreds of former racehorses a safety net through transitional training and placement in carefully screened and monitored homes.

“We take retiring racehorses, start them under saddle, and care for their needs until a willing adopter can be found,” said Morgan. “Then we educate the adopters on the idiosyncrasies of racehorses, answer myriads of questions, encourage them through problems, and offer training guidelines. And we take the horse back when the adopter gets a divorce, loses a job, relocates to an apartment, changes interests, or simply no longer wants the expense! This is no small feat when you’re talking over 300 horses a year! It takes a lot of resources to run a program like this. We must have help, lots of it.

“New Vocations genuinely needs your support of this event. Stallion seasons are the most important. But we also need art, memorabilia, tack, gift items, vacation packages, and equine services.”

New Vocations is a 501 (c) 3 public charity so donations are tax-deductible to the extent of the law. Please e-mail or call today with breedings or merchandise you have to contribute. dot@horseadoption.com or (937) 947-4020.
