Salisbury, MD — Horse Lovers United, Inc. (HLU), is a 501 (c)(3)organization, based in Salisbury, MD, that helps horses in many ways. Finding new homes, retraining for new careers, helping with feed for owners who are down on their luck, but want to keep their horses, helping with euthanasia costs when necessary to alleviate a horse’s suffering, and educational clinics are just some of the ways equines are helped through HLU.

Ninety-five percent of the horses helped are Standardbreds. There are currently 11 Standardbreds and 1 Chincoteague/Welsh x pony being cared for monthly at a cost of $2,200 per month. Some of these are too old to find a home and they will need our care for the rest of their lives. It has always been the mission of HLU to help keep as many horses as possible from going to slaughter, and to live out their lives in dignity.

One of our major fund-raisers is the sale of donated Standardbred breedings. There are still several good breedings left to these stallions: Beach Romeo, Dr Dreamy, Four Star Robro, Fraternity Pan, Great George Two, Pacific Renegade, Lis Mara, Rusty’s For Real, and Western Ideal.
