Brennan, Barlett lead Yonkers’ 2011 opener

by Frank Drucker, publicity director, Yonkers Raceway

Yonkers, NY — The calendar may have changed, but in Westchester, the song remains the same.

George Brennan (four winners) and Jason Bartlett (three winners) were Yonkers Raceway’s opening night stalwarts, combining to win more than half of Thursday’s (Jan. 13) dozen dashes. Bartlett comes off his third consecutive local driving title, with Brennan a solid second while balancing work on both sides of the river.

After programs of Friday and Saturday, the customary five-night-per-week live schedule (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday) returns next Monday (Jan. 17).

Evening simulcasting accompanies all live programs, with afternoon simulcasting available around the NYRA schedule. Wednesday afternoon simulcasting ends at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Horsemen are reminded that nomination forms for Yonkers’ early-season series (Petticoat, Sagamore Hill, George Morton Levy Memorial and Blue Chip Matchmaker) are now available on-line (www.yonkersraceway.com), in the nightly racing program and through various trade publications as well as their respective websites.

Horsemen are also reminded that a current Coggins test has to be filed with the race office, as well as lifetime eligibilities with the USTA or renewed 2011 Canadian eligibilities. For more information, please contact the race office at 914.457.2627.
