Brewer, Tharps score hat tricks on Hollywood Dayton lidlifter

Dayton, OH — Hollywood Dayton Raceway opened for its second season of live racing on Monday night (Sept. 14) with a large crowd on hand that handled approximately 20 percent more than the comparable night of the inaugural meet in 2014.
Drivers Jason Brewer and Randy Tharps emerged as the opening night stars with each of the talented reinsmen scoring triples on the 12-race program.
Brewer’s hat trick included bookend wins with Mass Destruction (1:55.3) in the first and Little Mans Magic (1:55) in the finale. Sandwiched between was an impressive tally with Jackets Required (1:54.2). Two of Jason’s three winner’s circle visits were with horses from his father Jeff Brewer’s large stable; the other was for conditioner Terry Deters.
Tharps’ first triumph came with Venus Rocks (1:54.1) for trainer Tim Lane, followed by victories with Bye Bye Daddy (1:56.4) for trainer Dennis Putnam and Hanky L (1:53.2) from the Herb LeVan stable.
Jeremy Smith and Greg Grismore managed driving doubles on opening night as well.
Smith first scored with the trotter Baby Blaze (1:56) for trainer Sherif Cunmulaj. Jeremy then scorched the five-eighths-mile oval with Bettorseeitmyway (1:53.1) in the fastest mile of the night for owner-trainer Mary Dawson, topping Tempster Hanover and Kyron by just over a length in the $5,000 conditioned event.
Grismore’s double paired wins with Doug Hinklin’s A P P Panda (1:54.1) and Tom Horner Sr.’s Fifteen Four N (1:55.3).
Dan Noble and Ken Holliday also got into the win column on opening night. Noble guided Best B Pacific to a 1:54.1 victory for trainer John Winner, while Holliday captured the penultimate race with TSM Gabby Warbucks (1:56.2) to give Terry Deters a training double on the evening.
Hollywood Dayton will race Wednesday through Saturday nights this week with the regular 6:35 p.m. post time, then take a five-day hiatus during Little Brown Jug week at the Delaware, Ohio county fairgrounds before resuming a standard five-nights-a-week schedule on Friday (Sept. 25).
