Brigham Dream sets OSS record at Mohawk

Campbellville, ON — Prior to her elimination victory last week, Brigham Dream was a virtual unknown in the Ontario Sires Stakes program. That is not the case anymore!

On Monday night, October 1, the strapping daughter of Kaisy Dream-Crysta’s Image lowered the all-time OSS record for 3-year-old filly trotters with a punishing 1:53.4 victory for driver Jean Pierre Dubois in the C$130,000 OSS Gold Final at Mohawk. The clocking lowered the previous mark of 1:54 which was set by the great Peaceful Way back in 2004.

In Monday night’s race, Dubois had his charge fired up off the gate and she quickly got away in the pocket position behind early pacesetter J M Aggie, who put up an opening quarter of :27.4. The top two remained in that position past the half in :57.2 at which point the backfield started to advance.

As the field neared three-quarters, Dubois brought Brigham Dream to the outside and she came right up to the leader at the third panel in 1:25.4 with Maple Sugar and Carolyn AS following closely behind in the outer flow.

However, they were no match for the eventual winner, who kicked away in the stretch with a sharp :28 second final quarter. Carolyn AS was able to outkick Maple Sugar for the place spot.

The win was the sixth in eight starts this season for Brigham Dream who is trained by Nicolas Vandenplas for Reve Avec Moi Dreamwithme of Brigham, Quebec. She increased her seasonal earnings to $134,753.

The 3-year-old filly trotters have one more Gold Final event coming up this season and that will be contested at Windsor on October 28. The OSS Super Finals will be raced on November 10 at Woodbine.
