Washington, PA – Buba Can Dance let Truman Jr Hanover do all the heavy lifting, then blew by him in the lane to spring a 16-1 upset in Friday’s (June 18) co-feature at The Meadows, a $12,100 Conditioned Trot.

Buba Can Dance jumped up to this class last week but made little impact in his initial try. On Friday, he was more than up to the task, pulling the pocket around the final turn and scoring in a career-best 1:54.4 for Jeremy Indof. Truman Jr Hanover held second, 3-1/4 lengths back, with Lindy’s Big Bang third.

In Friday’s other co-feature, also a $12,100 Conditioned Trot, In Secret needed the entire stretch to do it, but the 1-2 favorite finally prevailed in 1:54 for Dave Palone, trainer Ron Burke and owner Sylvia Burke. The 9-year-old Deweycheatumnhowe-Secret Magic gelding extended his lifetime bankroll to $894,398. DP Rocket and Stickler Hanover completed the ticket.

Elsewhere on Friday’s card, Trainer Robert Rougeaux III might have some 2-year-old colt trotters to be reckoned with; they showed it when a pair of them, Bjornsson and El Toro Loco, swept the exacta in a $6,800 maiden race for freshmen. Bjornsson (Muscle Hill-Missymae Bluestone) was an easy front-end winner for Tony Hall in 1:58.2 while El Toro Loco (Walner-Southwind Cabaret) and Brian Zendt shot the Lightning Lane for second. Lone Wolf Stable owns both youngsters.

Dave Palone piloted four winners on the 13-race card.
