Callahan Brothers sweep Maryland Sire Stakes Prelims for Trotting Fillies

Berlin, MD – Two splits each of the Maryland Sire Stakes preliminaries for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings and trotting fillies highlighted the Friday night (Aug. 28) card at Ocean Downs.

The first division for pacing colts and geldings opened the card. Stunner’s Wish (Rusty’s For Real) with Tony Morgan between the wheels, tucked in the pocket until the three-quarter pole, first trying to pass the leader Whep (Rusty’s For Real) on the outside then quickly ducking back into the inside passing lane to win by a length in 1:59. Stunners Wish is owned and bred by Sharon Morgan, Tim Crissman is the trainer.

The Callahan brothers, Corey driving and Shaun training swept the two splits for trotting fillies in races two and three.

Andovermiwinner (Anoversure) owned and bred by Robert Key scored her first win of the season going wire to wire in the 2:02.1 mile. Call Me Keeper (Lockkeeper) picked up the place spot.

The second division for the trotting fillies went to Pride Of Windswept (Charlie De Vie) who controlled every quarter of the 2:04 mile. John and Sarah Swart are the co-owners and breeders. Paislees Future (Trainforthefuture) driven by Chris Offutt and named for his daughter, finished second.

The last stake of the night was the second split for pacing colts and geldings in race five.

Reinsman Russell Foster pulled Syanide Who (Rusty’s For Real) going to the three-quarter pole from third and flew to the lead by the head of the stretch, opening up three lengths on second place finisher KO Master (Rusty’s For Real). Gloria and Sammy Belote are co-owners and breeders of Syanide Who and Sammy does the conditioning.
