Dover, DE — Corey Callahan, winner of the last seven Dover Downs leading driver crowns and Dylan Davis, with two leading trainer crowns in a row, seek to defend those titles as the Delaware capital city racetrack opens for its 48th campaign on Monday (Oct. 31) at 4:30 p.m.

Callahan won the leading driver title with 182 races last season, 37 more than runner-up Tony Morgan. Davis completed the meet haltering 75 winners with Jim King finishing second with 57 training wins.

Callahan will be tested this meet by a handful of challengers including the red-hot Harrington champion, Victor Kirby, enjoying his finest season ever; Ross Wolfenden, always listed among the top chauffeurs in Delaware racing; and the emerging star Montrell Teague.

Among the many talented drivers at the track this season are three former champions in Tony Morgan, Tim Tetrick and Jim Morand.

In the trainer category, Davis will be challenged by Joe Hundertpfund, the current Harrington leader, former long-time champ Josh Green, Wayne Givens, Doug Lewis, Les Givens, Clyde Francis and resurgent Mike Hall.

Again this season Dover Downs features 15 races daily.

During the upcoming meet, in November only, there will be Sunday racing on the first three Sundays of the month. Sunday post time is 5:30 p.m.

During the six-month long meet, December through April, the track will offer Monday through Thursday racing at 4:30 p.m.

There is no charge for parking and admission. Early reservations are suggested for the Winner’s Circle Restaurant and for those planning to stay at Dover Downs Hotel. Call 302.674.4600.
